Natural Everyday Makeup

I’m definitely a girl who wears makeup every. single. day. Probably because I have such fair eyelashes and eyebrows. 😂 But I prefer natural, everyday makeup that makes me look fresh, polished and not over done. I want to look like ME.

I like full coverage because I have freckles and dark under eye circles, but I don’t want it to feel (or look) like I’m wearing a lot. So I’m sharing and breaking down my favorite everyday makeup products!

You can simply click on each product image or number in the graphic below to purchase for yourself if you'd like!

Face

1. Wonderglow Face Primer:

After my skincare and sunscreen, I always start with a face primer. Lately I’ve been loving this primer in particular. The soft-focusing formula hydrates and blurs the look of imperfections and fine lines. It makes you look like you’re glowing from within, without adding shine.

2. Airbrush Flawless Foundation:

I am loving this foundation because it is lightweight, buildable with great pigmentation, long-lasting and has a natural matte finish. I find it great for most skin types and just an all around amazing product.

3. Knock-off Beauty Blenders

These knock-ff beauty blenders are the real deal y’all! They come in a pack of 5, are a fraction of the price and are SO soft. These are by far the best out of any alternative brand I’ve tried.

I love applying foundation and concealer with a damp sponge like this because it really allows you to get a flawless coverage. No brush strokes, just nice even coverage and blending.

4. Trusty Concealer

When I’m doing quick, everyday makeup, I really don’t put a lot of focus into the concealer. I just add a little to the inner and outer corners and blend it under the eye, onto of the eyelid and any leftover will go on the parts of my face I want to highlight. For example, around my nose, my chin and between my eyebrows/center of my forehead.

My main purpose is to brighten my under-eyes and make a nice even “canvas” on my eyelids to prep & prime them for eyeshadow.

5. Setting Powder

Once I’m done with my foundation and concealer, I like to set it all with a powder to really lock it in to last the whole day. Setting your eyelids also allows the eyeshadow to go on smoothly without tugging or pulling.

If you want more coverage, use a pressed powder that is also a foundation. If you don’t need the extra coverage, just use a translucent powder (pressed or loose).

I actually really like this banana powder to help blur and give a beautiful complexion.

Eyes

6. Pillow Talk Palette

This nude-pink eye palette is gorgeous and flattering on any eye color!! It’s feminine yet natural and comes with two matte colors and two shimmering colors.

Typically I will use the light pink matte color in the crease of my eye. Followed by the light shimmer color on my lower lid and inner corner. Lastly I will apply the darker matte color on the outer 1/3rd of my eye as well as on the outer 3/4 of my lower lash line.

7. Swerve Liner

I like using gel eyeliners because they are generally easy to blend. This liner in particular is very smooth and thin which is good for those of us with smaller lower eyelids!

For the days when I’m doing “quick” makeup, I’ll just put this eyeliner on the outer 2/3rds of my lash line. Then I’ll take a small liner brush and blend it towards my inner eye using small dashes.

This approach thickens my lash line just enough to make my lashes look more naturally voluminous.

8. Mascara

I have been loving this mascara, especially on these quick days! It’s thick and really coats the lashes easily without using a lot of product. It really makes it easy. However, I feel that it is a little harder to take off. I take a cotton round with micellar water and press it on my eyelashes to really soak them. Then the mascara comes off fairly easy.

Cheeks

9. Mini Nudies

If you’re new to cream sticks, this little mini nudies set is the way to go! It’s got a bronzer, blush and highlighter and the colors are beautiful on almost any skin tone. While they aren’t super pigmented… that’s actually a good thing for newbies.

You don’t have to be scared that you’ll over do it and you can really play with them to see how much or how little you like. They blend easily and are so versatile! You can use the bronzer as blush and eyeshadow. The blush as lipstick. And the highlighter as eyeshadow! I call it a win-win-win!

Brows

10. Powder Brows

This all matte eyeshadow palette is beautiful! I love it for eyes, but I also use one color (Wanderer) in particular for my brows! I prefer powder for brows because I feel that it gives a very natural look and is pretty forgiving and easy to use.

Using an angled brow brush and small dashes, you can really get beautiful, full brows that last all day! I don’t personally need any type of gel to hold my brows in place; however, if you find that you need a little more help in the taming department, there are many options!

Clear Brow Gels:

  • Milk Brow Gel
  • Boy Brows
Soap Brows:
  • Bar Soap
  • Brow Kit

Brushes

11. Cream Blending Brush

Perfect for blending anything creamy! It’s dense, yet fluffy and so so soft!

12. Tapered Blending Eyeshadow Brush

A brush with medium length bristles, not to long and not too short. Rounded and tapered at the end makes this a perfect eyeshadow blending brush!

13. Pointed Liner Brush

The key with this brush is to use it on it’s side, laying down. Don’t try to use the tip/point! Instead, lay it down on your lash line and blend or spread the product using small dashes.

This brush would also work great for lip liner!

14. Angled Brow Brush

For brows, I prefer an angled brush that isn’t too flimsy or too narrow. I think this one works great for any brow size/shape.

Lips

15. The best every day lipstick

This lipstick is creamy, soft and the perfect matte without leaving your lips dry. It makes them feel hydrated and smooth! Seriously- it’s sooo good!

I LOVE this pink mauve color called Salt Lyfe, and think it is just the prettiest on almost anyone!

5 Ways to Make Makeup Last All Day

makeup guide

"How do I get my makeup to last all day?"

This is a very common question I’m sure all makeup artists are asked. 😄 The good news is that there are several easy things you can do from home to help! I’m breaking down 5 ways to make makeup last all day as well as providing tried & true product suggestions.

Specializing in bridal & event makeup has allowed me to really push the efficacy of several products. On top of that, living in the South where it is hot and humid during most of the wedding season, I have to be sure my client’s faces don’t melt. 😆

 So let’s dive in!

1. For starters, make sure you’re using good skin care and exfoliating.

Exfoliating will help:

  • Slough away dead skin and encourage fresh cell turnover
  • Clean & purify clogged pores
  • Boosts circulation
  • Helps skincare penetrate deeper

A good rule of thumb is to exfoliate twice a week. If you’re prone to redness or irritation, start out with once a week and work your way up to twice if you need it.

You can do chemical exfoliants such as glycolic or salicylic acids. Plant enzymes such as papaya, pomegranate or pineapple are also awesome natural exfoliators and good even for sensitive skin types.

If you use a physical exfoliant, don’t use exfoliant washes with hard granular particles. Those are usually too harsh. Instead, look for more gentle, natural ingredients that won’t damage the skin. For example, poppy seeds or jojoba beads.

Another best kept beauty secret is to do what’s called dermaplaning. It’s an exfoliant treatment that removes peach fuzz and dead skin with a tiny scrape scalpel. This is something that your esthetician can add on to most services. But there is a little tool you can use on yourself at home!!! While these little razors are not the real deal, it’s an awesome way to keep up your healthy, glowing, peach fuzz-free skin from home.

Once you start, you’ll never go back- and no, not because your hair comes in thicker or darker – it doesn’t! But because you’ll realize how amazing your makeup and skincare goes on and feels when you don’t have that buildup of dead skin and fuzz!

2. A huge player in the longevity of your makeup is a primer.

There are so many options for primers these days, including ones for balancing redness, oil control, hydration, glow, etc. So you might ask… “Are primers really necessary??” This is probably one of the most overlooked steps in makeup application and in short…. Yes!!

Primers are meant to prep your skin for a smooth makeup application as well as grip the makeup for long lasting wear. I’ve included tried & true product suggestions below.

Primers for Oily Skin:

  • Oil & Shine Control Primer
  • Pur Canvas Primer – Blurring

Primers for Dry Skin:

  • Hydrating Face Primer
  • Hangover Replenishing Face Primer
  • Backlight Priming Filter Face Primer

Primers for Large Pores:

  • Photo Finish Pore Minimizing Primer
  • Poreless

Primers for Redness:

  • Photo Finish Reduce Redness

3. Set your foundation & concealer with a translucent setting powder.

Here are two setting powders you can’t go wrong with.

  • Translucent Loose Setting Powder
  • Soft Light Blurring Powder

4. Use a Setting Spray as the FINAL step, especially on extra long or hot days.

These are my go-to setting sprays.

  • The Makeup Finishing Spray
  • All-Nighter Makeup Setting Spray

5. And Lastly.... Don't touch your face!

Try your best to avoid touching your face throughout the day. Not only can it spread dirt, oil and bacteria from your hands to your face, it breaks down the makeup you’ve worked so hard to apply.

Wrap Up

There you go beauties!! Following these tips will help your makeup last all day and all night with minimal touchups necessary. 🙌🏻 Now you’re ready to face the day with confidence!

Favorite Everyday Beauty Must Haves

Rounding up my favorites for everyday beauty must haves. These are my go-to, no questions asked, tried & true favorites. If you just want to spruce up your basic hair and makeup products, there’s really no downside to these.

1. Charlotte Tilbury's Airbrush Flawless Longwear Foundation

This foundation is the real deal! It will stay all day, it’s weightless, buildable and has a natural matte finish. So what does all that mean… Stay all day: it’s sweat proof, humidity proof, water proof and transfer resistant. Weightless: it doesn’t leave you feeling like you have a bunch of makeup on. It’s so light, you won’t even notice it’s there! Buildable: you can start with a little to get a medium coverage and add more to build up to a more full coverage. Natural Matte Finish: this means that it’s great for any skin type! It’s moisturizing, but helps control oil without drying you out.

I use number 3 Neutral most of the year.

2. Tarte's Sea Lip Quench Rescue Balm

This lip balm is awesome for everyday wear! I’m obsessed. It’s a soothing, hydrating lip balm with a sheer tint.  They have peppermint oil in them which is refreshing and plumps the lips. Vitamin E and algae extracts, they help soften and smooth your skin.

My favorite colors are rose, coral and berry.

3. Tarte's Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Eyeshadow Palette

I have been using this same eyeshadow palette for YEARS! It’s got beautiful shades of Mauves, Plums and Browns in both warm and cool tones. I love that they are matte so they’re perfect for any age. They are very pigmented so a little goes a long way and stays put!

I use this pallet several times a week and have been using the color Wanderer to fill in my eyebrows for many years. There’s a reason this is one of their best sellers!

4. Sephora's Ready to Roll Brush Set

There are so many types of makeup brushes, it can often be overwhelming, right?! If you need some good, basic makeup brushes… this is a great set to start with. They are so so soft and made cruelty-free.

Inside you’ll get:

  • Powder Brush
  • Complexion/Foundation Brush
  • Angled Blush Brush
  • Highlight + Contour Brush
  • Fan Brush (great for highlighting cheek bones)
  • Eyeshadow Brush
  • Smudge Brush
  • Blending Crease Brush
  • Concealer Brush
  • Angled Liner with Spoolie Brush (I would use this for eyebrows)
  • Faux Leather Brush Roll (to pack in for traveling)
5. NARS' Radiant Creamy Concealr

This concealer is a staple in my makeup kit! It lasts for up to 16 hours, is great for all skin types, blurs the look of lines and wrinkles and hides dark circles. In my opinion, it’s more of a light to medium coverage. The consistency isn’t thick or sticky and it bends in beautifully.

Pick a color that is 1-2 shades lighter than your foundation and use under the eyes, under nose (most people forget about this area but it really helps when you lighten here), and between the eyebrows blending into the center fo the forehead.

6. it Cosmetics CC Cream with SPF 50+

For anyone looking for a CC cream, this one is hard to beat. It is more on the full coverage side, comes with a natural finish (so not drying and not “dewy”) is great for any skin type, and has super beneficial ingredients, including:

  • physical chemical sunscreen = PREVENTION of wrinkles, sun spots, scaring or worse
  • collagen = youthful, smooth appearance
  • peptides = reduces the appearance of wrinkles for smooth, firmer looking skin
  • hyaluronic acid = locks in moisture, supports elasticity and diminishes the look of fine lines and wrinkles
This CC cream brightens the skin and comes in a variety of shades.
7. Jade Facial Roller

A facial roller is built to have a cooling, soothing effect on the skin, promote drainage and reduce facial tension. Because it’s made of the natural stone Jade, it has balancing properties and retains its’ coolness for long periods of time.

This is so relaxing after a long day and I highly recommend running it under cold water for a moment and then using it with your favorite face serum or lotion.

8. Shape Tape Concealer by Tarte Cosmetics

This concealer is full coverage and will last for up to 16 hours.  It smooths and brightens the eye area but what’s even better is that it won’t crease or settle! Who doesn’t want to help smooth and blur fine lines and wrinkles?!

9. Satin Sleep Set

This cute set includes one queen satin pillowcase, along with a matching satin eye mask and a volume scrunchie!

You may have heard that sleeping on a satin or silk pillowcase is good for your hair and skin and I fully support that idea! I have been using one for over a year now and I really notice a difference. As much as I try to sleep on my back, I always end up on my side. Satin is said to prevent sleep lines on your face, decrease bedhead and helps to prevent split ends. I totally agree.

Also, unlike cotton, satin doesn’t absorb moisture or trap oil from your skin, allowing your skin to stay hydrated while you sleep for a more youthful complexion.

Your eyelashes will also benefit from the lack of friction standard cotton pillowcases may cause. Anyone who has lash extensions may want to try this satin pillow case!

10. Roller Lash Curling & Lifting Mascara by Benefit Cosmetics

I’ve tried a lot of mascaras over the years and this one really takes the cake for most reliable, curling and lengthening mascara. It stays put and truly does lift and curl your lashes giving making your eyes look more open!

11. Pillow Talk Luxury Palette by Charlotte Tilbury Cosmetics

This is such a beautiful, everyday eyeshadow palette with golden pink shades. It’s got 2 rich matte colors and 2 satin shimmer colors that are universally flattering for any skin type or age. Seriously one of my FAVS!

12. Anti-fatigue Under Eye Primer by BECCA Cosmetics

This is your secret weapon if you have dark circles or tired looking eyes!! It is a cooling primer that diffuses light and preps the skin for makeup application. Plus it’s got Vitamin E to help nourish the skin!

This little thing will last you a LONG time and it is worth every penny!

13. T3 SinglePass Curling Iron

For a steadfast curling iron that will last for a very long time, this iron is definitely worth the investment!

Key Features:

  • Ensures even, consistent heat
  • Custom blend ceramic surface glides smoothly to create a frizz-free shiny finish that lasts
  • 5 Adjustable Heat Settings (260-410 F): I have very thick hair and I use mine at level 3.
  • It’s very lightweight
  • SmartTwist Dial: To easily turn the tool on/off and regulate the temperature
  • 1 Hour Auto-Off: For safety and energy saving
  • Cool Tip & Stand: Enables easy, secure styling
  • 9 ft, 360 Swivel Cord: Prevents cord from getting tangled or twisted
14. Makeup Headband

I love this thick, furry headband to wash my face and apply makeup. Or if I want to take a “body shower” but not wash my hair, it holds it out of the way and prevents the hair around my face or nape of the neck from getting wet. Just toss it in the wash with your towels when it needs to be cleaned.

Besides that, it’s just too cute with that big bow!

15. Full Dry Volume Blast

Need a little extra volume? This stuff is awesome! It gives you a blast of volume and hold that lasts! And it doesn’t get crunchy or sticky but a little goes a long way.

The scent smells good but it is a little strong, in my opinion. I still think it’s worth it 😉.

16. Paddle Brush

Perfect for detangling wet or dry hair, smoothing and blow drying hair. The wide surface area helps your hair dry faster and the flexible bristles don’t pull or tug your hair. A must have for anyone.

17. Medium Round Brush

I love this ceramic brush for a beautiful, at-home blowout. It speeds up dry-time, adds body and volume, and leaves your hair smooth and shiny.

So there you have it…. 17 of my no-questions-asked, beauty must haves for every day. If you have any products that you can’t live without, let me know in the comments below! I’d love to check them out if I haven’t tried them yet. 💕

Sometimes deciding between two hairstyles for your Sometimes deciding between two hairstyles for your wedding is tough! 😆

Think about these factors to help you decide:

- how do you wear your hair normally (ex if you never wear your hair up, this may feel too unnatural for you.)

- what does your dress look like? Are there any specific details in the back that you want to show off and not cover with your hair?

- do the expectations of your desired hairstyle and what your hair can actually do match up? (Ex. Your hair never holds a curl and you don’t want to wear extensions but you want your hair down with curls ❌.)

- what will the weather be like? (Ex. If it’s outdoors on the beach and windy, you may want to wear your hair up so it doesn’t blow in your face the entire ceremony!)

- lastly… what does your gut tell you?! This is YOUR wedding day and ultimately you will be happiest going with what YOU feel the most beautiful in!

Not what your mom expects your hair to look like if it’s not what you want…. Not what you think you’re “supposed” to do if it’s not something that feels comfortable for you….
