Things I wish Brides knew about makeup…

📣 Neutral and Natural are often mixed up.

We see WAY too many inspo pictures where brides say “I want this natural makeup look” but the photo is FULL coverage and the person is in fact wearing a ton of makeup. 😆

Instead, break up an inspo photo and think of what you like about it specifically. Is it the color of the eye shadows? Is it the type of false lashes? Is it the placement of the blush? The brightness under the eyes? The color of the lipstick? Etc.

Your MUA should ask you questions like this to make sure you’re on the same page but it’s always a good idea to consider these things ahead of time.

Your MUA will also be able to recommend what colors, placements and techniques are best for your specific skin type, face shape and coloring.

📣 Be realistic.

Often times we have clients who fall in love with an inspo photo and think they’ll look just like that when their makeup is done.

For example, if you show an eyeshadow look on someone who has almond shaped eyes with a lot of eyelid space, but you have hooded eyes where you can’t see much eyelid when your eyes are open… your comparing apples to oranges.

What we CAN do is dissect that photo and see what it is specifically you liked and translate that into an appropriate look that works for your eye shape. 👁️

📣 We can’t erase texture.

Color can be covered (like hyperpigmentation, acne scars, dark circles, etc.). But texture can’t (like wrinkles, raised bumps, puffiness, etc.)

📣 Good makeup starts with good skincare. 📣
